Several well-known e-bike brands are issuing urgent recalls due to serious safety hazards. Affected models include the Santa Cruz Heckler 9, FENGQS F7 Pro, and the Specialized Haul ST and LT.
Santa Cruz E-Bikes Recalled Over Fire Risk

Santa Cruz Bicycles has issued a global recall for its Heckler 9 e-bike after multiple reports of battery fires. The company, based in Santa Cruz, California and owned by Dutch transportation giant Pon Holdings, first announced the recall in May. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the lithium-ion battery used in this model may overheat and pose a fire hazard. “Consumers should stop using the Santa Cruz Heckler 9 immediately and disconnect the battery from both the bike and the charger,” reads the CPSC’s official statement.
A company spokesperson stated that up to 1,728 Heckler 9 e-bikes sold in Europe are affected. Additionally, 2,850 units in the U.S. and about 550 in Canada are also included in the recall. While no injuries have been reported, there have been three fire incidents and some property damage.
The affected Heckler 9 bikes feature a removable 720Wh battery housed in a black compartment beneath the frame. “SANTA CRUZ” is printed on both sides of the downtube, while “Heckler” appears on the top tube and inside the left rear chainstay.

FENGQS F7 Pro E-Bikes Pose Fire and Burn Hazards

The CPSC has also issued a serious warning regarding the FENGQS F7 Pro e-bike, urging consumers to stop using it immediately due to fire and burn risks that could result in “serious injury or death.”
About 180 units sold on Amazon are affected. The F7 Pro’s battery is defective and should be removed right away and disposed of following local hazardous waste protocols. Nine fire incidents have been reported, including two causing property damage totaling $12,000.
Worryingly, the Chinese manufacturer, Shenzhen Fengqisi Vehicle Co., Ltd., has refused to cooperate with a formal recall. These e-bikes can be identified by “FENGQS” on the blue frame and “F7 Pro” on the rear chainstay. They were sold on Amazon between May and December 2024, priced between $700 and $1,200.
Specialized Recalls Haul ST and LT Models

Specialized Bicycle Components is recalling around 11,000 Globe Haul ST and LT e-bikes due to a seatpost safety issue. When the 13-inch telescoping seatpost is fully extended, its lower section may crack or break, posing a fall hazard.
There have been 13 incident reports, including two riders who sustained scrapes and bruises. Owners should stop riding immediately and contact an authorized Specialized retailer to have the seatpost replaced with a safer version made from a different material.
These models, marked with “Haul ST” and “Haul LT” on the downtube, were sold through bike shops and Specialized retailers from January 2023 to March 2025. Prices ranged from $2,500 to $3,500.
